25 years ago, Nautool made its mark as professional fabricators by building large items such as conventional davits. Today, Nautool represents a manufacturer of a well made conventional davit, "COONEY" (also known as Simpson Davits). The davit is competitively priced and optional extras include power winches.
Nautool still makes its own davits. The company has recently perfected a tubular arch style of davit that lends itself to all kinds of creative extras. In the photo of the yacht “Discovery” (a Jeanneaux 505), you can see that Solar panels have been installed on the arch. Later, they added a crane to lift the dinghy motor and then radar and wind generator mounts.
Shade from the unrelenting Caribbean sun is very important and the owners of “Discovery” decided to profit further from their purchase. They had Nautool design and manufacture a rigid awning to attach to the arch davits, resulting in large amounts of extra shade with side curtains.
The arch style of davit can lift a 3.5 metre dinghy with a 25 HP motor with ease. One can still access the stern of the boat when the dinghy is on the davits - very important when one needs to go in the water at short notice. |
